JD Fratzke

JD Fratzke was born in Winona, MN and has been part of the Twin Cities restaurant community since 1992. He has opened nine restaurants in his career and helmed several kitchens in Saint Paul, MN including Muffuletta in the Park, Bar Brigade and The Strip Club Meat and Fish where for ten years he was Chef and managing partner. 


An avid outdoorsman and wilderness advocate, JD writes a monthly column for The Growler magazine celebrating how Minnesota’s waterways and wild places have influenced his life in restaurant kitchens. Excited to return to his roots in southeastern Minnesota, he and his dedicated team are working hard to bring the flavors and traditions of our region’s many cultures to the dining experience at Artisan Plaza Market and Food Hall.  Falls Landing will highlight local ingredients and fine service in a Supper Lodge setting. 

In 2016 JD was presented with the Charlie Award for Outstanding Chef of the Year by the greater Minnesota restaurant community and in 2018 was voted Best Chef in the Twin Cities by City Pages magazine. He has recently appeared as a mentor and judge on the Bravo TV reality show Top Chef.  JD lives in Minneapolis with his wife and daughter.
